Our bodies need protein, fat and carbohydrate to function properly. But when our body gets excess fat, we become bigger and flabbier. So if you were to burn and reduce the body fatness, you will lose weight. The fat in our body is calculated in percentage. Body builders usually have very low fat percentages in the 2-4% which means their muscles are highly visible and detailed. The less fat you have in your body, the more muscular and leaner you will appear. And you already got rid of excess calories, fat and weight.

Fats have more calories than protein and carbohydrates and if you eat foods which are high in fats, you will consume more calories. Eating fats don't make you fat. It's the excess calories that are stored as fat instead of being used as energy. It can be a combination of protein, carbohydrates and fats. If you burn more calories than you consume, you will lose weight.

So if you have excess weight, you are usually fat and you need to shed the pounds off by targeting the fat. Burning fatness for weight loss is how I will call it. So find ways to reduce your body fat first and automatically your weight will decrease. Do robic training or cardio exercises like running, cycling, swimming, walking, aerobics to get rid of the excess fatness and weight and tone up your muscles with body weight exercises.

Then pay proper attention to a low fat high protein diet. And limit your carbohydrates intake particularly at night. During the day, you'll need more since you are more active. With a proper nutrition in hand, you will maintain your fat-reducing condition and in the long run, your weight loss goal will be reached more effectively.
